The fine print

Terms of service

Steno is an evidence ledger for working hours, operated by Jannik Jung and currently offered as a public beta. By creating an account you agree to these terms.

The service

Steno stores time entries, evidence references, spaces, projects, and statements that you or your connected agents file. Agent-filed entries are pending until the attributed developer approves them; agents cannot approve work or alter it after approval. Managers may make documented exceptions. What your organization approves is its responsibility. Closed statements are immutable by design until an authorized manager voids them.

Your account

Sign-in is via GitHub or Google. You are responsible for the agents you connect; you can revoke any agent's access at any time from the “Agents” page. You can export your data or delete your account from the account menu. An organization retains its shared accounting record after a contributor leaves; account deletion pseudonymizes that attribution instead of deleting the organization's ledger.

Beta, warranty, liability

The service is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, while in beta. We work hard to keep your record safe (backups, an append-only audit trail, locked statements), but you should keep exports of anything you bill from. To the extent permitted by law, liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before a claim.

Fair use

Agent reporting is rate-limited per account. Don't use Steno to store unlawful content or to misrepresent work that did not happen — the entire point of the ledger is that every line carries its evidence.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product leaves beta; material changes will be announced in the app. Questions: support@steno.ink.
